Plant covered: Spathiphyllum species and hybrids.
A drooping peace lily attracts attention quickly. The useful next step is to check its growing conditions before reaching for the watering can. A leaf posture tells you something changed; it does not, by itself, tell you what the roots need. Most indoor peace lilies are cultivated species or hybrids within Spathiphyllum.
Protect leaves from direct sun
Choose indirect light away from harsh direct sunshine. Keep the plant warm and sheltered from cold drafts. Record whether a window, air conditioner or door changes the conditions around it. A position that feels comfortable while you are sitting there can still receive a blast of hot or cold air later.
Aim for moisture without a waterlogged base
Peace lilies need moist, draining conditions rather than a container that stays soggy. Check the mix before watering and let excess drain away. When leaves droop, compare their condition with the moisture you find. Do not repeat a watering just because the plant has not instantly changed its posture.
Treat brown tips as a question
Fertilizer salts can contribute to tip damage, so adding more feed is not an automatic fix. Review the product and amount previously used, water quality and drainage. A spent bloom or one ageing leaf is also different from a sudden whole-plant decline. Record which part changed and when.
Your next useful check
If the plant droops, write down the moisture result before taking action. Photograph the whole plant and the pot. At the next check, compare posture and the mix rather than just one browned tip.
If you need another pair of eyes, gather a whole-plant photo, a close-up and recent care dates with our plant observation checklist. Leave anything you do not know marked unknown.
Make a care routine with Plont
Use Plont to make the follow-up explicit. Its unsure choice is useful when you need another observation before deciding; a reminder does not establish the cause of drooping.
Start with Plont. It works in your browser and is free to start. Using the app requires an account and usage limits apply. Photo identification is a suggestion to verify; it does not establish a diagnosis.
Care reference
The species-specific growing guidance draws on NC State Extension’s Peace lily profile, consulted 4 November 2026. The check prompts are Plont’s practical suggestions, not a fixed watering prescription. Cultivar, container and growing conditions can change what your plant needs.
